What are the main drivers to go for EPM Plugin (AO 2.X) vs. sticking with EPM Add-in

Hi,

We are considering upgrading our existing applications Analysis for Office 1.4  and  BPC 10.0 EPM Addin SP16 to a new version which supports Office 2016 and Windows-10.

From the Analysis perspective, the next step is clear - It will be Analysis Plugin that comes with Analysis for Office 2.2.

From the EPM perspective, we have 2 choices at the moment:

A. EPM Plugin which comes with Analysis for Office 2.2 and has better convergence with Analysis for Office

B. Upgrade EPM Addin to latest Service (presently SP25)

Both options we have heard support Office 2016 and Windows 10.

We have tested both favours of the EPM tool with existing BPC 10.0 reports/forms built on Standard Models. Our observations have been that the new EPM plugin has compatibility issues running existing BPC reports, especially in the area of VBA coding, but also some other basic features such as the Refresh Button. The transition from EPM Add-in to EPM Plugin appears to be bumpy with a lot of regression testing, corrections, compromise on features to go through.

I guess some of us may be at cross roads on which EPM tool to consider moving to. I hope this discussion can help bring out any experiences we have had using the EPM Plugin as well as what have been the benefits over the EPM Add-in.

Best
